A few days ago, I stopped at Katie's Coffee in Great Falls and overheard folks talking about their "cars and coffee" event.  If you've been in Great Falls center on a Saturday morning, it's hard to miss the classic cars buzzing around Great Falls center.  Every Saturday between April and October from 7 AM to 9 AM, classic car owners stop by Katie's Coffee to talk cars over coffee.  The event typically draws almost 100 classic cars and their owners, making it a great opportunity to be up close with some one-of-a-kind cars.

On August 6th, the Traveling Players Ensemble performs Shakespeare's "Love's Labour's Lost" at River Bend Park.  The Traveling Players Ensemble is a non profit group which strives to bring "great threatre into the outdoors." The performance starts at 7:30 PM but there's a silent auction before the show at 6:30 PM.  Arrive early for an opportunity to bid on a weekend at a beach house and other interesting items.  Catch the final performance in the tour and join in the big celebration.

On August 8th, Two Car Living Room plays Great Falls as part of the Summer Concerts on the Green.  It's a new local band that plays blues and rock with some original material.  You can listen to their sound on YouTube or enjoy The Sky is Cryin on Myspace.

On July 25th, Tom Principato performs in Great Falls as part of the Concerts on the Green 2010.  Tom is a DC native and has been playing both in the area and all over the world for a long time.  He's a legend in the guitar world and has shared the stage with many big names of the music world. On July 11th, the local band Cravin' Dogs plays at the Great Falls Summer Concerts On The Green. Just in case you cannot make the show in Great Falls, the band will also be playing the Vienna Town Green on July 30th. This well-regarded band started in the mid 80's and has played over 1000 shows and released 8 albums. The band's 2000 release, Roots, Rock, Paper, Scissors was nominated by the Washington Area Music Association's "Best Roots Rock Album of the Year"and named "Best Local Release of 2000" by Lou King of The Journal Newspapers. On August 1st, Hamburger James plays at the Great Falls Summer Concerts On The Green.  The Richmond, Virginia-based quartet performs songs from the 50's with their own unique twist.  The group is made up of Andy Vaughan on vocals and rhythm guitar, slawdaddy on lead guitar, Bill Pettus on drums, and Will Armstrong on bass.  Check out the band on Youtube, or listen to Boom Chicka Boom on their Myspace page.
