Have you ever driven down on Baron Cameron Avenue only to have a zebra or camel catch your eye? You’re driving past the Reston Zoo, home to a wide variety of exotic animals including alligators, alpacas, antelopes, bisons, camels, llama, monkeys, ostriches, porcupines, and zebras. And I’ve probably missed a few! If you click on the image to enlarge it, you can spot a few of the animals between the posts of the sign.
Sitting on about 30 acres, the Reston Zoo is a popular local attraction, in part because it offers a variety of ways to get up close to the animals. Visitors can take a stroll on the zoo’s trails to watch the animals in action or take a narrated wagon ride and get a chance to feed some of the animals. There’s also a petting barn with more opportunities to interact and feed the animals.
The Reston Zoo is located at 1228 Hunter Mill Road in Vienna, Virginia. It’s just off Route 7 at the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Baron Cameron Avenue.
The Reston Zoo is actually located in the town of Vienna on the Reston border.
The Great Falls Crossing community sits across from the Reston Zoo.
