The City of Fairfax sits in the heart of Fairfax County but is an independent city. It’s a short drive to DC with a population just under 25,000. The city was ranked third by Forbes Magazine as one of the best places to live, pointing out that its “packed with entrepreneurs….” The City of Fairfax successfully merges older historic structures with newer homes and buildings. The Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center is a good place to learn about the city’s history and events taking place year round.
