Reston is a planned community with approximately 60,000 residents. The community lies in the Dulles Technology Corridor which contains the “vital electronic pathways that carry more than half of all traffic on the Internet. The region is home to more telecom and satellite companies than any other place on earth.” Of the 20 biggest venture capital firms in the DC area, five are located in Reston. All of this makes for a very strong local business climate.
All residential properties in Reston are required to be members of the Reston Association, which provides government-like services to all residents. Reston lays claim to over 55 miles of pathways and is a very walkable place. All of the paths are multi-use, and walkers, runners, bikers, and wheelchair users use them on a regular basis. According to a Reston Association survey, residents voted the paths as the most popular amenity in the community. Reston’s 133 individual neighborhood clusters come together with the pathways.
Some of these paths even have exercise stations equipped with pull-up bars or sit-up benches. Other twist and turn around natural beauty such as the four man-made lakes in the town. Some organizations, such as the Reston Runners, take advantage of this setting and frequently hold running events on the paths.
Whatever the use, the paths play a vital role in bringing the neighborhood clusters together with the retail communities around Reston. Residents can walk over to stores such as Trader Joes or the Reston Town Center to catch a movie, dinner, or to sit by the fountains to do a little people watching on a summer night.
I’ve devoted a lot of energy to appreciating what the Northern Virginia area offers and can communicate that effectively to both buyers and sellers. More than 10 years ago, I relocated to Northern Virginia from Massachusetts, so I know first hand the challenges of moving to a new area and finding a home. With more than a decade of experience buying and selling land and building homes in the area, I’ve acquired a solid understanding of local property values. To keep that information fresh, I regularly compile my own set of Northern Virginia real estate market statistics.
As a licensed Class A builder, I know how to shop for new homes, re-sale homes, and land. That experience lets me catch something that might otherwise be overlooked, and what’s overlooked can be costly. My construction background also helps me to effectively represent sellers by being able to respond to concerns from prospective buyers. Sprinkled throughout these pages, you’ll find more information about me or the value I can bring to your next real estate transaction, but here are a few highlights:
- I don’t use a “canned” approach because every transaction and every property is unique;
- I have more than 10 years of home construction and real estate experience;
- I’m internet savvy and promote my listings across the internet, on unique websites, and with targeted online advertising;
If you’d just like to spend some time viewing properties on-line, I’ve set up a handy property search feature.
When you’re ready to take your property search to the next step or to discuss listing your home for sale, give me a call at 703-608-4004 or send me an email. Of course, all of that is on my contact page, but it never hurts to repeat it.
